Dear Brian:

\JThe newly discovered phenomenon of solid rain seems to be more wide spread
than you had assumed having recently been observed here at the AI lab. In
fact, a new sport has been invented and tried out the first time yesterday.
We have found that one can compress the new stuff into balls. Several of us
tried this yesterday and tried throwing the balls at each other. I did not
feel that I should indulge in this sport at my age, but some of the young
fry thought that it was great fun. Perhaps you should introduce this sport
in Paris, if the phenomenum repeats itself.

While I am writing, perhaps I should apologize for not getting in touch with
you when I was in Paris recently. Unfortunately I came down with a bad cold
and I felt that it would not be wise to go around spreading it. I may be in
Paris again in May and maybe then I wiill be able to see you.\.

Arthur L. Samuel
